Dear Drew and Emily,

My girlfriend and I have spent the night together ever since the first couple of weeks after we started dating. The thing is, she's spending Thanksgiving with my family and my mom is really conservative. I can't see her letting us sleep in the same room together, but I don't want it to make things awkward between me and my girl.

Hawks focus on beating Gophers

Daily Iowan, University of Iowa, IA

1 hour ago by Charlie Kautz - The Daily Iowan

For the third time in seven years, the road to a January bowl bid goes through Minnesota for head coach Kirk Ferentz and Iowa, a seven-win team setting up for a crucial regular-season finale on Saturday night in Minneapolis.

Of all the extracurricular story lines for the Hawkeyes to draw upon this week - from Floyd of Rosedale to junior halfback Shonn Greene's worthiness of Heisman consideration - perhaps none has been more overlooked than Ferentz's track record in such games.

Free Press is censoring its readers

The Mankato "Free" Press shut down its on-line forum after comments were made which they deemed too controversial. These topics ranged from politics to local job layoffs.

I understand the Free Press hosting this type of a forum is a small conflict of interest yet a newspaper should hold the right of free speech above all else.

It started out as a drip. Then continual puddles of water turned into a flood of controversy for the University of Michigan-Dearborne.

The campus, which has a student population that is nearly 10 percent Muslim, was seeing the affect of the Muslims' traditional foot washing before prayer.

Approximately 20 percent of Simpson students continue into graduate school after graduating.

Students who plan on attending graduate school should plan accordingly in their junior and senior years.

"Most students choose to go on to graduate or professional school because it has a direct relationship to their career vocational path," Jim Thorius, vice president for student development, said.

Greene takes aim at mark

A linguistics major would describe Kirk Ferentz as monotone. The 10-year head coach places emphasis on a word about as often as legendary Hawkeye announcer Bob Brooks misses an Iowa football game.

But in the basement of the Hayden Fry football complex after his Nov. 18 press conference, Ferentz morphed into Herm Edwards when he talked about Shonn Greene.

"If you look at the numbers, those are so impressive," said Ferentz, doing his best Scott van Pelt impersonation.

New Knowles

Minnesota State University Reporter, Minnesota State University, Mankato, MN

First of all, Beyoncé Knowles is not Sasha Fierce. Jay Z is not "just a boy" and he did "put a ring on it." But, she does make herself Sasha Fierce for this album. She encompasses herself in the strong, single woman role and, although you know it isn't her, she comes off sincere.

Blackshirts playing tougher, hitting harder this season

Daily Nebraskan, University of Nebraska, NE

1 day ago by Kris Knowlton

Last year's Blackshirt defense didn't give Nebraska's video staff much material for their "Hits of the Game" highlight reel.

The segment is shown on the jumbo screen inside Memorial Stadium during the fourth quarter of Cornhusker home games and reflected Nebraska's porous defensive showing in 2007.

It's one of those things all coaches invariably say during the course of the season. Usually toward the end of the year, they talk about how much they've enjoyed coaching their players and how they'll remember this year for the rest of their lives.

Kirk Ferentz morphed into that stereotype at his weekly press conference on Tuesday. But, in this case, there's a distinct difference between Ferentz and others who have expressed the sentiment: This isn't the first time the 10-year head coach has praised his players without being asked by the media.

Beautiful female models deflate male ego

Daily Nebraskan, University of Nebraska, NE

20 hours ago by John Turner

Men are constantly bombarded with images of the ideal woman, of what's considered attractive.

Tall, thin, busty and blonde are the images seen all the time. However, these are not the usual characteristics of an average gal. Most women aren't blonde, tall, thin and busty.

Students take aim at others on the Internet

SDSU Collegian, South Dakota State, SD

It is probably hard for many SDSU students to believe that hate exists on their campus. One SDSU group recently came face-to-face with the proof that it does. A couple of weeks ago, the Gay- Straight Alliance (GSA) found a Facebook group that directly attacked one of its members.

Twilight's Edward is the perfect man

SDSU Collegian, South Dakota State, SD

Hey, guys - have you figured out who Edward Cullen is yet?

He's a whole lot more than some vampire in one of the most popular book series since Harry Potter - he's the man of your girlfriend's dreams. Unless you're the world's greatest boyfriend (and you're not; Edward is) you need to keep reading.

The few hours of presentation were the result of much planning and prep work.

WAITE: Knowledge of female sexuality leads to acceptance, great sex

Daily Nebraskan, University of Nebraska, NE

I want sex so good I can't walk.

I want to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, pull Excalibur from the Stone, do the Sunday New York Times crossword in pen - obtain the Holy Grail of female sex: have a G-spot orgasm.

Those somewhat mythical, elusive orgasms define the pinnacle of great sex and are far less fictitious than you might believe.

Hell is just a drink away for off-season athletes

The Undercurrent, Buena Vista University, IA

11 hours ago by Cassidy Ptacek

"What is 'Hell Week'?" That was the first question I asked when I heard about the event. I do not participate in athletics at Buena Vista University (BVU), so this year was the first I had heard of "Hell Week." For those of you who have no idea like I did, "Hell Week" is the week after fall sports teams finish their respective seasons and go on a weeklong drunken rampage.

Presenting Step Forward in NYC, a personal reflection

The Mac Weekly, Macalester College, MN

On Tuesday night, I was at home in Brooklyn, and I was running late. I had tried for a good hour to put together a business casual outfit that I could move in and heels that would make me look less like a stump but also not be my death sentence. My parent's printer wasn't working, and my sister's wasn't working either.

Experiment divides Stav

Manitou Messenger, St. Olaf College, MN

Nov. 4 was a day of change across the nation: the day that United States would finally pick its next president, the day Americans could get their voices heard, and - at least across the St. Olaf campus - the day that Stav Hall would go trayless.

Stuff Park wrote: sweeping generalizations

Once again, I am compelled to address the callous and easy arrogance of privilege that is the only dialect that many journalists can speak in the journalist's tongue. Compelled, but for what?

The same arrogance that speaks through the two-page spread on what whiteness (and Macalester?) likes already views its own writing as incomplete without some partial, self-interested or "tribalist" response-so why should I or anyone otherized by this conflicted drivel even respond? What could be gained from filling this role, stepping into the chalk already drawn out for me? No matter what its content, my response will simply be met with "disdain" by this overwhelmingly white campus.
