Students who plan on attending graduate school should plan accordingly in their junior and senior years.

Research companies may soon be hurrying to move to the new Innovation Campus research park project in Brookings.

The campus is made up of 125 acres of state-owned land that will soon be used for research and businesses. It is expected that by the end of 2009 there may be anywhere from four to six buildings, and following this, another two to three buildings per year, said Van Fishback, chair of the Growth Partnership and president and CEO of Fishback Financial Corporation.

Inclement weather has pushed back the construction deadline for the 28th Street and Carpenter Avenue project over a week but the project will still be completed in time for the Drake Relays, said Facilities Operations Manager Mark Chambers late last week.

The project was funded by the Department of Transportation, and, as a result, the construction guidelines stipulate that the company working on the project must be given up to two rain days each time it rains.

After new results were tabulated Friday, Democrat Barack Obama seems to have captured Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District, earning him one of Nebraska's five electoral votes, according to unofficial returns.

The victory marked the first time in modern history that a state has split its electoral votes, as only Nebraska and Maine award a portion of their electoral votes based on the winner of each individual Congressional district.

The Johnson County medical examiner's office ruled UI oboe Professor Mark Weiger's death a suicide, saying the cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning, authorities said this morning.
